War of the Worlds (2005)

War of the Worlds is easily a great movie, especially as personally I'm a fan of the novel. The alien tripods are eerie, and their horns are deafening and scary. Just imagine hearing that "Bwahhhh hoooo!" in the middle of the night!
The exodus scenes are also horrifying, showing large populations snapping under pressure, breaking into cars, using 'every man for themselves' tactics. But in my opinion, there are many problems with the movie, however most
of them are minor issues.
First of all, the tripods. The problem I have with them is how they differ from the novel. First of all, In the novel those things are described as boilers on stilts, with glittering metal.
But in this adeptation, they look less like great silver machinery on three legs, and more like literal black CCTV cameras on highly fluid tripods. Second, the aliens. In the book, they are obviously martians. But for some reason in the movie, they are unknown extra terrestrials. In the novel they look like brown leathery octopi with big eyes and a beak (or just V shaped mouth), however in the movie they look like tripedal monkeys?
Third of all, they put more focus on the Exodus scenes than the actual invasion. I dont really have a problem with the way the exodus is executed in any way, it's just the fact that they put so much focus on it.
But other than that, the movie is phenomenal.
